Calling & Ministry Vision

Pastor Hyoik Kim has devoted his life to God in worship and seeks to motivate, inspire, and encourage the Body of Christ to worship God in Spirit and in Truth. His ministry is rooted in a heart for worship, spiritual growth, and creating a warm, welcoming church community.

 

Education & Theological Training

Pastor Kim earned a B.A. in Theology and a B.M. in Church Music from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. After moving to the United States, he continued his studies in church music, receiving a Master of Music in Music Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He later answered a call to pastoral ministry and earned his Master of Divinity from Drew Theological Seminary in Madison, New Jersey.

 

Ordination & Methodist Ministry

Pastor Kim was ordained as an elder in 2011 and has since faithfully served as a United Methodist minister. He embraces Methodist theology and values, with a vision for ministry that is both spiritually meaningful and deeply compassionate.

 

Pastoral Experience

Throughout his ministry, Pastor Kim has served Tranquility and Johnsonburg UMC, Arcola Korean UMC, Christ and First UMC, and Christ First UMC in Hasbrouck Heights, offering leadership grounded in worship, care, and faithfulness.

 

Personal Life & Interests

Pastor Kim plays piano and guitar and enjoys golf and tennis. He is married to his wife, Ruthie Hyunsook, and they are blessed with two children, Grace and Wesley, whose names he fondly notes are perfect for a Methodist pastor’s kids.
